London, England: English side Carlisle United have confirmed the signing of Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi on a two-year contract ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 30-year-old centre-back joins from Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, having previously spent four years in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell FC, where he made 125 appearances.
Mugabi, who featured in the youth systems of Fulham and Southampton before his breakthrough at Yeovil Town in 2016, has earned 20 caps for Uganda and brings significant experience to Carlisle’s defensive ranks.
Carlisle United head of recruitment Martin Foyle praised Mugabi’s character and pedigree: “He brings a wealth of experience from Scotland, abroad and international football, and he has a fantastic attitude which will help to drive the standards even higher on and off the pitch.”
Mugabi becomes the Cumbrians’ sixth signing as they prepare for life in the National League following their relegation from the English Football League. The club opens their season on August 9 with an away fixture against Woking FC.
Carlisle United now compete in the National League, the fifth tier of English football.
