Kampala, Uganda: President Museveni’s senior advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu, and prominent city lawyer Usaama Ssebuufu were among the standout honorees at this year’s Halal Islamic Brunch, a high-profile awards event held at Four Points By Sheraton in Kampala.
Namyalo, also known as the “Iron Lady” of Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC), emerged the biggest winner of the night, clinching two prestigious accolades: Outstanding Political Leadership and Women Empowerment and Community Welfare.
In her acceptance speech, the Chief Muzzukulu urged Muslim youth, especially young women, to avoid reckless decisions and embrace purpose-driven lives.
“Let us not rush into decisions that may cost us years of progress. As Muslim women, we must embrace patience, resilience, and purpose,” Hajjat told an applauding audience of religious and civic leaders.

Her recognition was hailed as a testament to her rising influence within Uganda’s political and grassroots mobilisation spheres, particularly for championing President Museveni’s wealth creation agenda through ONC’s Bazzukulu empowerment model.
On the other hand, Ugandan Business mogul Hajj Hamis Kiggundu, famed for his investments in real estate and philanthropy, was honored for Entrepreneurial Excellence and Social Impact.
Speaking at the awards gala, Tycoon Ham, as he is popularly known, emphasized the need for economic discipline and faith-driven prosperity. “As Muslims, we must understand that economic independence is not a luxury, it’s our responsibility. Wealth is a tool; when used right, it transforms communities,” Ham said.
Counsel Usaama, known for his bold courtroom defences and legal activism, was awarded for Legal Excellence and Justice Advocacy, and also used the moment to call for legal reform that reflects both constitutionalism and cultural identity.
“The law must not only be just, it must be accessible. Justice delayed is justice denied — especially for our youth,” he remarked.
Other honourees included Hajjat Shania Kigozi for her outstanding charity work with orphans and vulnerable children.
The event organized by Biggie Events, was immersed in live Islamic music, networking sessions, intergenerational mentorship, and high-profile guest appearances of high-level Muslim clerics, community leaders, business executives, and youth influencers.
