Kampala, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has urged young Ugandans to abstain from alcohol, cigarettes, and weed, saying these habits are detrimental to personal growth and health.

In a reflective post on his official X account, Gen Muhoozi, who is also Uganda’s Military Chief, said that young people should “be better” than the older generation, especially those in the military who normalized drinking and smoking in their ranks.

“Drinking is a bad idea, too. Some of us were spoilt on that one by our elders in the military, our bosses at that time. Do not copy us on that. Be better than us,” he wrote.

The First Son, often a controversial figure on social media, made the remarks while responding to a fan who directly asked him whether he drinks or smokes. Muhoozi clarified that he no longer does either.

“No, I don’t smoke anything. I advise all young people to avoid cigarettes, weed, etc. The best thing is to imitate Jesus Christ and not drink or smoke anything. Then you will be great people… and you will live long,” he posted.

Gen Muhoozi has in the past been accused by critics of tweeting under the influence, especially when his posts appeared contradictory or erratic. However, his latest message strikes a more reflective tone aimed at encouraging moral discipline among Uganda’s youth.
