Namisindwa, Uganda: Jackson Wakweika, the incumbent Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson, has written to the NRM District Registrar demanding a detailed breakdown of the recent LCV party primary results, threatening legal action over what he claims were irregularities in the vote tally.

Wakweika, who lost to his former male councillor, Bwayo Emma, alleges that the number of voters exceeded the total in the NRM register.

In his letter addressed to District Registrar Richard Kikuyi, Wakweika demanded sub-county-level vote counts and a copy of the district register to facilitate a formal petition. He also warned of criminal proceedings against the registrar should the information not be provided, saying he suspects fraudulent activity may have influenced the outcome.

But the District Registrar Kikuyi dismissed Wakweika’s claims as unfounded. “We received Mr. Wakweika’s letter, but let it be clear, the deadline for filing LCV petitions was Tuesday, July 29,” said Kikuyi.

“Over 175,000 people participated in the elections out of 240,000 registered voters. Allegations of an inflated register are far-fetched.”

Kikuyi urged all candidates to accept the results in the spirit of party unity. “We must move forward as one political family under the NRM. Elections are behind us,” he stressed.

Bwayo Emma, the declared winner and newly elected NRM flag bearer, also fired back at Wakweika.“The NRM operates with village-level registers, not district registers like he is demanding,” Bwayo said.

His threats are unnecessary and show that he lacks evidence. We welcome everyone, including Mr. Wakweika, to work together for the district’s development.”

According to official results released on Thursday, 24th July, Bwayo secured a landslide victory with 107,567 votes, followed by Wakweika Jackson with 66,952, Situma Mango with 3,678, and Wataka Simiyu Patrick with 507.

Wakweika’s next steps remain unclear, but his legal threats and refusal to concede signal potential turbulence ahead in Namisindwa’s political landscape as the district gears up for the 2026 general elections.
