Kampala, Uganda: Renowned events promoter Bajjo, real name Alfonso Mukasa, has issued a strong warning to rising Ugandan artistes who continue to downplay the achievements and legacy of veteran singer Bebe Cool, calling for respect and recognition of his contribution to the music industry.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Bajjo emphasized that success in Uganda’s music scene is hard-earned and no musician who has built a career over two decades should be taken lightly.
“You cannot underrate Bebe Cool. He has contributed a lot to the music industry. The only thing one can do is work hard and be like him,” Bajjo stated.
Bebe Cool, who boasts a career spanning more than 20 years, continues to dominate industry conversations, holding ground against younger, more energetic artistes.
Bajjo noted that some upcoming musicians have adopted a strategy of attacking veteran artistes like Bebe Cool in order to gain attention or clout, especially given his long-standing feuds with other big names in the industry.
he, however, warned that such tactics are misguided and unsustainable in today’s evolving music landscape. “Times have changed. For a new artiste to make it now, they must focus on creating music, not attacking people.”
Bajjo commended Bebe Cool’s resilience and hard work, urging young talent to focus on building a lasting legacy rather than chasing controversy.
