Buyende, Uganda:- Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has pledged to revitalise the National Resistance Movement (NRM) with “new things” in mobilisation and stronger links between the party and the legislature, as she campaigns for the position of NRM Second Vice Chairperson (Female) on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Hosting NRM delegates from Busoga at her Nalina LC1 home in Kagulu Sub-county, Buyende District, Among said her priority is to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
“I’m going to bring new things in terms of mobilisation, linking the party together with the legislature, and building the NRM base because I still have the energy to do it,” she said.
She urged contenders for party leadership to uphold unity and mutual respect throughout the campaign period. “We are in competition within NRM, but when these elections end, we must leave the party more united than before,” she added.
Busoga Delegates Endorse Among
The delegation, led by Parliamentary Commissioner Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central), commended Among’s leadership and pledged to mobilise support for her bid while pushing for grassroots development.
“All of us here are committed to support you because of your leadership and mobilisation,” Silwany said. “We also urge you to set up development centres in every district of Busoga – even a factory in each – because you can do it.”

The “Team Mulamu” delegates represented all districts of Busoga, including MPs Kibalya Maurice Henry (Bugabula South), Moses Magogo (Budiope East), and Bwire Sanoni Nadeba (Kaliro), among others.
Speaker Among faces incumbent Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, who has held the CEC seat for over a decade.
