Kyeswa Hakim: The NRM We Want Will Be Built by All of Us, Not Just One Leader

Kampala, Uganda: Aspiring NRM Vice Chairperson for Central Region, Kyeswa Hakim, has rallied party members to embrace collective responsibility in shaping the future of the ruling party, urging an end to what he called “the same old games” in internal politics.

With the NRM Delegates Conference just days away, Kyeswa said his campaign journey across villages and towns had revealed deep grassroots commitment to revitalising the party’s vision and values.

“From village to town, you’ve welcomed us, rallied behind this cause, and shown that the spirit of a stronger NRM lives in all of us,” Kyeswa said in a Sunday statement released via his social media platform on X. “To those in areas we haven’t yet reached—keep the fire burning. You are the true ambassadors of this party’s future.”

The Youthful CEC aspirant stressed that his bid for the Central Region vice chairmanship was rooted in collective action, not personal ambition.

“This mission was never about me. Yes, I’m leading the charge, but the real work—the hope, the sweat, the belief—comes from you. The NRM we want won’t be built by one person. It will be built by us, together,” he noted, adding that the party’s renewal would require “no shortcuts, no empty words, no handouts—just real commitment from those who truly love this party.”

Kyeswa took aim at what he described as a history of unfulfilled promises and waning momentum in party leadership. “For too long, we’ve seen the same old games—promises that fade, energy that fizzles out. That ends now. It’s time for fresh voices, action, and a party that works for its people, not just a few,” he declared.

He urged delegates to use the upcoming conference to focus on unity and genuine service to the party’s broader membership. “Let’s move forward—not for positions or favors, but for an NRM we can all be proud of,” he said.

Kyeswa is contesting for the position currently occupied by incumbent Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, and eyed by several contenders ahead of the NRM’s Central Region leadership vote.

The NRM Delegates Conference will take place at Kololo Independence Grounds from August 24th until 28th when CEC Elections will be conducted.
