Namboole, Kampala: Uganda Cranes are back at the Mandela National Stadium this evening for Matchday 3 of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, aiming to secure maximum points against Niger in their bid to qualify for the knockout stage.

Having bounced back from an opening day defeat with a strong 3-0 win over Guinea, the Cranes now need another victory to keep their tournament dreams alive.

Niger, also battling to progress from Group C, will test Uganda’s resilience and tactical adaptability. Coach Byekwaso has fielded an unchanged XI from the side that thumped Guinea on Friday.

Uganda Cranes Starting XI: Joel Mutakubwa (GK), Herbert Achai, Hilary Mukundane, Rogers Torach (C), Gavin Kizito, Enock Ssebagala, Joel Sserunjogi, Allan Okello, Jude Ssemugabi, Abdu Karim Watambala, Reagan Mpande

Substitutes: Denis Kiggundu (GK), Nicholas Mwere, Elvis Ngonde, Usama Arafat, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Yunus Junior Sentamu, Lazaro Muhindo, Chrispas Kusiima (GK), Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, Gideon Odongo, Arnold Odong, Patrick Kakande

Niger Starting XI: M.T. Kassali (GK), Adamou, M. Papa, Ridouane, A. Kader, Chamsoudine, Harouna, Abdourahmane, Mohamed (C), Ali N., Latif Goumey

Despite a commanding 3-0 win over Guinea, Uganda now sit third in Group C, trailing Algeria and South Africa, who share 4 points each after the Bafana Bafana’s 2-1 victory over Guinea earlier today. Algeria rest today ahead of the final group matches and will be back in action against Guinea on Friday.
