Luuka, Uganda – The Archdeacon of Kiyunga Archdeaconry in Busoga Central Diocese, Rev. Canon Moses Dhikange, urged mourners to place unwavering trust in God as the key to success, even amidst life’s toughest trials, including the loss of loved ones.
Rev. Canon Dhikange delivered this powerful message on Sunday while presiding over the burial of Musigire Fred, 58, at Namalemba village, Bulongo Sub-County in Luuka district.
Drawing from his personal story, he revealed how the early loss of his father in primary four did not derail his journey, but rather strengthened his faith and propelled him into influential leadership within the church.
“Some say you should only have children you can manage. But I say, even if you have one child, that child needs God. Many wealthy parents watch their children waste their lives. Even a doctorate is worthless without God,” Rev. Canon Dhikange said, encouraging orphans and mourners alike to find hope in faith.
Supporting the call to faith, the Chief Mourner and Chairman of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira, shared his life experience as testimony to God’s power. He condemned grudges and urged people to turn to prayer rather than resort to witchcraft or other ungodly practices during hardships.
“In my upbringing, witchcraft was never part of my family. Prayer was our refuge. The world is full of challenges that can strike unexpectedly. We must always seek God’s help,” Dr. Lubega said, praising the late Musigire Fred for raising responsible children.
Dr. Lubega also highlighted the importance of raising children with integrity and unity, citing Ms. Irene Ndikimwiza, one of the orphans and bursar at Kiyunga Secondary School, as an example of a legacy well upheld. The deceased was also an assistant treasurer of Luuka Patriots Association (LUPA).
The burial ceremony was attended by Luuka District Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Ntogona Umaru, who urged citizens to embrace government wealth creation programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
He commended the people of Luuka for maintaining peace during the recent NRM primaries and called for the same spirit ahead of the upcoming elections.
