Entebbe, Uganda: Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Monday met Russian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Vladlen Semivolos, at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe to strengthen military and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
During the high-level meeting, Gen Kainerugaba, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, and Ambassador Semivolos reviewed existing areas of collaboration and expressed optimism for expanded engagement.
Gen Kainerugaba praised Russia’s historic solidarity with Africa, particularly during the continent’s liberation struggles, and commended Moscow for maintaining a respectful partnership approach with Kampala.
Ambassador Semivolos, in turn, hailed the current military and technical cooperation between the two nations, stressing confidence that Uganda–Russia relations would continue to grow stronger.
The engagement comes just months after Gen Kainerugaba’s visit to Moscow in May and follows a trend of deepening Uganda–Russia diplomatic and defence ties spanning several decades.
