Kenya’s digital trailblazer, Professor Bitange Ndemo, currently serving as Kenya’s Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, will be the keynote speaker at the Uganda Law Society’s inaugural Digital Transformation Festival (TechFest 2025), a landmark event for legal and tech innovation in East Africa.
Held under the provocative banner “Radical New Bar: Digital Transformation Festival,” the two-day gathering will take place August 14–15 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, gathering lawyers, tech enthusiasts, students, and creative innovators for a deep dive into tomorrow’s legal-tech ecosystem.
Why Prof. Bitange Ndemo?
A former Permanent Secretary in Kenya’s Ministry of ICT (2005–2013), Ndemo is widely praised for spearheading Kenya’s tech transformation, overseeing submarine fiber optic infrastructure, establishing tech hubs like iHub and mLab, launching the Open Data initiative, and catalyzing the BPO industry.

Now an academic leader serving as Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Nairobi, he also chairs Kenya’s Distributed Ledgers and AI Taskforce, advising on policy for MIT’s AI Forum and the OECD’s AI and Blockchain panels.
