Kampala, Uganda: Uganda will this Friday, August 15, host the 15th Anniversary of the prestigious Brand Africa Awards at the Kampala Serena Hotel, with MTN CEO Sylvia Mulinge set to deliver the keynote address.

The landmark event, organised by Publics Africa Communications, is expected to draw CEOs, CMOs, academics, media executives, and branding thought leaders from across the continent to celebrate excellence and chart the future of African brands.

Mulinge’s keynote will set the tone for a masterclass on Brand Leadership and Excellence, to be led by renowned South African brand strategist and author Thebe Ikalafeng.

“We are incredibly proud to host the 15th anniversary of the Brand Africa Awards here in Uganda,” said Joseph Kanyamunyu, Managing Director of Publics Africa Communications. “This is more than just an awards ceremony; it’s a platform for dialogue, learning, and collaboration that will empower our brands to compete on a global scale.”

Africa’s Leading Brand Rankings Unveiled

The 2025 edition will reveal the most comprehensive rankings in the event’s history, drawn from an independent survey of consumers aged 18+ across more than 30 countries, representing over 85% of Africa’s population and GDP.

The rankings will include the Top 100 Most Admired Brands, the Most Influential Nations in African branding, generational preferences across Gen-Z, Millennials, and Gen X, and Special Recognition Awards for sustainability and leadership.

In a historic first, the ceremony will also induct leading African brands into the inaugural Brand Africa Hall of Fame, recognising those that have dominated rankings for the past 5–15 years.

A Data-Driven African Benchmark

The Brand Africa 100 | Africa’s Best Brands rankings are based on a data-driven methodology led by GeoPoll and Kantar, conducted in eight languages using mobile, face-to-face, and online surveys. The research generated over 150,000 brand mentions and nearly 6,000 unique brands.

Over the past 15 years, African brands have averaged only 20% representation among the most admired brands on the continent, a statistic the organisers say must change.

The Kampala event will serve not only as a celebration of African branding excellence but also as a continental think-tank for ideas, strategies, and partnerships to elevate homegrown brands.
