Mbale, Uganda: The Umukuka III of the Bamasaaba, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, has held high-level talks with a delegation of Bugisu RDCs and RCCs in what insiders say is part of a wider state–cultural strategy to consolidate unity and political stability in Eastern Uganda.
The courtesy meeting, confirmed by cultural institution spokesperson Mr. Steven Masiga, was led by Col. Dhamuzungu Oguli, Chairman of RDCs and RCCs in Eastern Uganda, who also doubles as the Dean of RDCs in the region.
The delegation included Mbale City RCC Hon. George Wopuwa, Deputy RCC for Industrial Division Mr. Hamuza Banja, Deputy RCC for Northern Division Mr. Were, Assistant RCC for Northern City Division Mr. Kadimba Hussein, and the Assistant RCC for Industrial Division.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, the meeting went beyond ceremonial pleasantries, delving into joint strategies on community mobilisation, cultural cohesion, and coordinated development priorities that align with both government and cultural institution agendas.
Col. Dhamuzungu, in his remarks, hailed the Umukuka III for “standing firm in uniting the Bamasaaba people”, adding that cultural stability is a key pillar in driving both political harmony and local development.
Analysts view such engagements as a growing trend where government-appointed commissioners seek alliances with traditional institutions to bridge governance gaps, boost grassroots legitimacy, and pre-empt political divisions ahead of major electoral seasons.
