Kamuli, Uganda: The National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters in Kamuli District have officially endorsed Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine, for the presidency in 2026, vowing to rally behind him in the forthcoming general elections.
Led by district chairperson Kasiko Michael, the NUP leadership announced their endorsement during a mobilisation event on Sunday, where they also commissioned a new party office in Budhumbula Trading Centre, Southern Division, Kamuli Municipality.
Kasiko said NUP supporters in Kamuli are determined to see a change of government through the ballot.
“We want to see change, and we want every Ugandan to advocate for that change by voting our candidates,” Kasiko stated.
The office, he noted, will ease mobilisation and coordination for the party ahead of 2026.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ssegonga Silve, the NUP flag bearer for Kamuli Municipality MP seat, pledged to revive the party’s grassroots strength in the district, which had weakened following the exit of Gen. Moses Bigirwa, who defected to form the Eastern Revolutionary Platform (ERP) and later joined Mubarak Munyagwa to launch The Common Man’s Party.
“I am very focused on revamping our party by bringing new energies. This office will be a centre for new mobilisation ideas to build NUP’s momentum in Kamuli,” Ssegonga said.

Also speaking at the event, former FDC and ANT member Naikoba Prossy, who contested for Kamuli District Woman MP seat in 2016 and is now eyeing the same post on the NUP ticket, said Busoga must embrace change in leadership to regain its lost industrial glory.
“Busoga region needs overall change of leadership so that we get leaders who can restore the region’s dignity and fight for a fair share of the national cake,” Naikoba said.
