NRM to unveil Museveni 2026 portrait, campaign theme, today

Kampala, Uganda: The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will today, Tuesday, August 19, unveil President Museveni’s official 2026 campaign portrait and the theme for the “Kisanja” 2026–2031 term at the Party Headquarters, Plot 10 Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.

In a letter dated August 17, 2025, the NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong invited all district chairpersons to attend the event, emphasizing, “You will also witness the launch of the National Chairman’s Presidential Portrait and the Theme for the 2025/2026 General Elections and ‘Kisanja’ 2026–2031.”

According to the secretariat’s communique, the day’s program begins with a harmonization meeting at 10:00 am, where district leaders will “incorporate their input in the preparatory work” for the 4th National Conference of the NRM.

This will be followed at 2:00 pm by the official launch of Museveni’s campaign portrait and election theme.

The launch signals the start of the NRM’s campaign season for the 2025–2026 General Elections, consolidating Museveni’s re-election bid and providing the party’s grassroots leadership with a unifying theme for mobilization.

Political analysts say today’s unveiling will not only set the tone for the President’s campaign messaging but also test the party’s ability to harmonize structures at a time of heightened internal competition and youthful challenges to the old guard.
