Kampala, Uganda: The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has unveiled a medical insurance partnership with Case MedInsurance worth UGX 750 million to safeguard players in the 2025/2026 football season.
The scheme, effective September 1, 2025, will cover 700 players across the Uganda Premier League (400) and the FUFA Women Super League (300), with each of the 28 clubs registering 25 players.
FUFA said the initiative is aimed at prioritising players’ health, noting that injuries and medical challenges have long threatened the careers of athletes in Uganda’s top leagues.

“This partnership demonstrates our commitment to protect players, because they are the lifeblood of football and the future of our national teams,” FUFA officials said in a statement.
Over the years, several players have benefited from FUFA’s medical cover, including Shadia Nankya (formerly UCU Lady Cardinals, now in the US), Ronald Sekiganda (ex-SC Villa, now APR FC Rwanda), and Josephat Ayebare (Ndejje University FC), who was supported after a career-threatening injury during the FUFA Drum tournament.
Among women players treated under the scheme are Elizabeth Nakigozi and Sumaya Komuntale (Kampala Queens), Bbira Nandunga (Olila High School WFC), Harriet Muwugumya (UCU Lady Cardinals), and Rebecca Nakasato (Makerere University WFC).
On the men’s side, beneficiaries include Ibrahim Magandazi (Kitara FC), Anthony Mayanja, Innocent Rwothomio, and Douglas Muganga (BUL FC), as well as David Lukwago (SC Villa).
FUFA President Moses Magogo has repeatedly stressed that protecting players remains central to the federation’s development agenda.
