Kampala, Uganda: FUFA President Eng Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim has defended the choice of the Uganda Cranes’ accommodation for the ongoing CHAN tournament, insisting that the team’s hotel was inspected and approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Speaking during a recent media engagement, Magogo dismissed claims circulating in the media about the suitability of the camp, stressing that the facility was a specialized football hotel, not a general lodging facility.
“Some of the publications that are being made are false. This is not a general hotel—it is a football hotel, custom-built with exclusivity, our own food preparation, a gym made for football, and even facilities for night training,” Magogo clarified.
He further revealed that the complex is undergoing expansion with an outdoor arena and a training pitch, emphasizing that Uganda’s camp had already met international standards.
“CAF has to come and look at the amenities, and this hotel was approved by CAF. According to the standards of the competition, who is more authoritative, CAF or the critics?” he posed.
Turning to the knockout clash against Senegal, Magogo hailed Ugandan fans for their passionate support during the group stages, which he said gave the Cranes the confidence to progress.
“Our qualification out of the group stage is purely because of the support we get at home. Now, the team needs even more love as we face Senegal,” he appealed.
