Questions raised after Buyende Farmers’ boss dies in Kamuli Crash

Kamuli, Uganda: Police in Kamuli District are investigating the circumstances under which the chairman of Buyende District Farmers Association, Mr. Moses Samanya, lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Kamuli–Jinja highway.

According to police, the accident occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at around 4:00 pm in Kasambira. It involved a taxi, a Toyota Hiace registration number UBH 068J, and a Yamaha motorcycle registration number UFC 423B.

Preliminary reports indicate that the motorcycle, ridden by the deceased, was heading towards Jinja when it reportedly rammed into the stationary taxi from the rear. Mr. Samanya sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Micheal Kasadha, confirmed the incident, noting that both the taxi and the motorcycle were impounded and taken to Kamuli Central Police Station for inspection.

Kasadha further reminded motorists and road users to exercise vigilance and caution, emphasizing that road safety remains a shared responsibility.
