Busoga names organizing team for Kyabazinga’s 11th Coronation anniversary

Jinja City, Uganda: Busoga Kingdom has unveiled a 14-member organizing committee to spearhead preparations for the 11th coronation anniversary of His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope Kadhumbula IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, scheduled for September 13, 2025, at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe.

According to a letter signed by the Kingdom Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere, the committee will be chaired by the Kingdom’s Cultural Minister, Mr. Richard Mafumo, deputized by Mr. Tibalira Martin.

Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, Minister for the Presidency, has been assigned to coordinate central government participation, while Jinja City Mayor, Mr. Alton Kasolo Peter Okocha, will handle local government engagements. Kingdom Education Minister, Ms. Nantale Nasabu, has been tasked with managing religious affairs and schools’ participation in the celebrations.

The established committee will oversee logistical, cultural, and social aspects of the grand celebration, which is expected to draw thousands of subjects and dignitaries.

Dr. Muvawala emphasized that his office will directly supervise the anniversary’s success, noting its significance for Busoga’s cultural identity. “On Saturday, 13th September 2025, the Kyabazinga of Busoga and his subjects all over the world will celebrate his coronation anniversary at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja City,” his letter stated.

This year’s celebrations will run under the theme “A Malaria-Free Busoga for Generations to Come.”

The Kingdom has partnered with the Ministry of Health and the Busoga Health Forum to drive the campaign, which focuses on indoor mosquito spraying, larval source management, and vaccination initiatives aimed at eliminating malaria across the region.

Other members of the committee include Andrew Ntange (protocol and security), Ivan Kirya (finance), Walusimbi Haruna (entertainment), Yafesi Bairukireiki (youth and institutions), and Ibanda Mugabi (media).
