Kampala, Uganda: Government of Uganda has purchased all 28,000 tickets for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 third-place playoff between Sudan and Senegal, granting fans free access to the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The announcement was made Thursday by the Local Organising Committee (LOC), confirming that all tickets will be distributed at no cost to fans.

According to Dr. Denis Mugimba, the Chairperson of the LOC’s Communication and Signage Sub-committee, access to the stadium will be available by using the promo code CHAN3RD, with each individual limited to three tickets.

The tickets, he said, will be boldly marked “NOT FOR SALE,” carry full security features, and will be scanned at the gates to avoid duplicates and fraud.

The playoff match, scheduled for this evening, will also double as an entertainment spectacle with Uganda’s leading artists Jose Chameleone, Vinka, John Blaq, and Sunna Ben lined up to perform before kickoff.

Namboole has already established itself as one of the most vibrant CHAN venues, hosting several group matches, the quarterfinal between Uganda Cranes and Senegal, and the semifinal between Senegal and Morocco. The stadium has consistently drawn passionate crowds, cementing its reputation as the tournament’s heartbeat.

For Sudan, led by Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah, the playoff offers a chance to cap a surprise run that saw them crush Nigeria 4-0 en route to the semifinals.

Defending champions Senegal, coached by Souleymane Diallo, will look to bounce back after losing to Morocco in the semis, ending their hopes of retaining the crown.

The two sides met earlier in the group stages, drawing 0-0, but Friday’s encounter promises more urgency as both teams seek to finish the tournament on a high note.

The CHAN Pamoja 2024 tournament, co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, will climax with the grand final between Morocco and Madagascar on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi.
