Gamification in Travel: ‘I Must Visit’ launches ‘The World Game’ for global explorers

Rzeszów, Poland: Travel enthusiasts worldwide are set for a new adventure after global platform I Must Visit announced its transformation into The World Game, a gamified model that rewards explorers for discovering authentic places around the globe.

The groundbreaking update shifts travel from passive sightseeing to active global competition, where users earn points, collectibles, and rankings for exploring destinations.

At the core of the update are authentic travel venues, which now serve as arenas for global adventure. Users are no longer mere spectators scrolling through content—they are active explorers who complete challenges, earn points, collect digital rewards, and build their global traveler ranking.

So far, the I Must Visit community has contributed more than 8,000 videos spanning 120+ countries and tagged destinations with over 225,000 “I must visit” stamps. The new gamified model builds on this momentum by rewarding passion with progress.

Under the game, users can unlock experience points, coins, and more than 250 unique collectibles that enhance their traveler profile. Each profile evolves into a personal command hub, displaying trophies, a trip map, and a personalized video diary showcasing individual travel passions.

To sustain engagement, the platform is introducing themed travel seasons. The Welcome Season, designed to familiarize players with the mechanics, launched with the update, while the Castle Season, highlighting fortresses and strongholds worldwide, is set to roll out in September.
