Oyam, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Northern Uganda’s Oyam District are hunting for a man suspected of hacking a 26-year-old resident, leaving him severely injured following an alleged attempted theft in Iceme Town Council.
The victim, identified as Patrick Ojok, a resident of Akaidebe “A” Cell, Western Ward, Iceme Town Council, is currently admitted at Anyeke Health Center IV with multiple deep wounds on his legs, arms, and ribs.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 2:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025, when Ojok allegedly attempted to steal cows from a semi-permanent structure belonging to Akullu Jusphine, the mother of the suspect. Her son, Tobby Aremo, aged 24, allegedly confronted Ojok armed with a panga and inflicted several cuts before fleeing the scene.
North Kyoga Police spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed that the case was registered at Iceme Town Council Police Station under unlawful wounding, and the District Police Commander led a team to rescue the victim, who was found unable to walk due to multiple injuries.
“Statements have been recorded from the reporter and witnesses. Police Form 3 was issued for medical examination, and the suspect, though still at large, is known. We appeal to him and anyone with information on his whereabouts to advise him to report to the nearest police station for investigations,” Okema said.
By press time, medical staff at Anyeke Health Center IV said Ojok remains in critical condition, but is under close monitoring as he undergoes treatment for the injuries sustained in the violent attack.
