Kamuli receives two motorcycles, tech equipment to boost school inspections

RDC Rose Birungi hands over motorcycles and office equipment to Kamuli District Education Office.

Kamuli, Uganda: The Kamuli District Education Office has received two motorcycles, tablets, a laptop, and computers from Enabel Uganda, an NGO operating in Kamuli and Jinja, aimed at improving school inspections and administrative efficiency.

The donation was unveiled by Kamuli District Education Officer, Mr. Waibi Joseph, to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Waibi said Enabel’s assessment revealed that the office was poorly equipped and lacked adequate transport to reach schools, particularly in areas with impassable roads during the rainy season.

“When Enabel visited, they discovered that our office lacked modern computers and reliable transport. Our department had only one old vehicle, making school inspections difficult. With these motorcycles and equipment, we are now better placed to improve oversight of schools across the district,” Waibi said.

The equipment includes two motorcycles to enhance school inspection, two computers for record-keeping, two tablets, and a laptop for administrative tasks. Waibi pledged to use them to improve school supervision and overall performance.

Mr. Mukiibi Nasser, Kamuli District CAO, urged the education office to make full use of the equipment. “These motorcycles should ensure more frequent inspections of primary schools, reducing teacher absenteeism,” Mukiibi said.

“When teachers are present, it motivates pupils and parents to engage in learning. I expect improvements in both academics and co-curricular activities,” he added.

Kamuli RDC, Rose Birungi, who presided over the handover, commended Enabel and other NGOs for bridging gaps in service delivery. “I appreciate the partnership that identifies needs and provides solutions for the community of Kamuli,” Birungi said.
