Atuhaire Bernard, a first-year student at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), has quit school after winning a staggering UGX 355 million from fixed games provided by the Uganda Bettors Association.
The fresher says he was first tempted to try his luck after reading multiple success stories of Ugandans whose lives had been transformed through the Association’s fixed games.
“I used to read a lot of stories of people winning huge amounts of money from Uganda Bettors Association, but at the time I was still in Senior Six and I didn’t have the money to buy the games,” Atuhaire recalled. “When I finally joined university and received my hostel fees, I decided to take the risk and buy the package and that’s how I won.”
Now, with more than UGX 350 million in his pocket, Atuhaire believes education is no longer his priority.
“With the high rate of unemployment in Uganda, I don’t think I need to continue with my studies anymore. I have already found a source of money that I can rely on, and I plan to invest it wisely,” he said confidently.
