Ugandan Activists condemn U.S. aggression, declare solidarity with Venezuela

Ugandan activists from the Antifascist International Uganda Chapter rally in solidarity with Venezuela on the International Day of Solidarity.

Kampala, Uganda: The Antifascist International, Uganda Chapter, has issued a strong condemnation of what it calls “U.S. imperialist aggression” against Venezuela, warning that Washington’s latest actions pose a threat to global sovereignty and peace.

In a solidarity statement released in Kampala on Saturday, the group denounced the deployment of U.S. warships and nuclear submarines in the Caribbean Sea, as well as the $50 million bounty placed on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

“This is a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law,” the statement read, describing the measures as part of a long-standing pattern of imperialist interventions driven by “resource greed and arrogance.”

They were led by Daniel Rugarama, The Pan African Movement Chairman, and John Ngabirano.

The Ugandan activists drew parallels between Latin America’s struggle and Africa’s colonial history, saying Venezuela’s defense of independence and social justice mirrors Africa’s own resistance to external domination.

“From Kampala to Caracas, Africa to Latin America, our unity is a shield against imperialism,” the group declared. “Venezuela’s frontline today may be Africa’s tomorrow; thus, our solidarity is not charity but mutual defense.”

Marking the International Day of Solidarity with Venezuela, the Uganda Chapter demanded three key actions: the immediate withdrawal of U.S. military forces from the Caribbean, an end to all forms of aggression and destabilization, and respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of nations.

The statement closed with rallying calls: “Long live the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela! Long live Comrade President Nicolás Maduro! Long live Pan-African and Latin American unity! Down with imperialism!”

Their statement comes on heels of reports that the United States is boosting its maritime force in the waters off Venezuela to reportedly combat threats from Latin American drug cartels with the expected arrival of more vessels next week, something they say is a guise for provocative actions against Venezuela.

The Ambassador of Venezuela to Uganda, Fatima Fernandes, rubbished claims by the US against her president saying they are baseless.

“Venezuela is not a threat, Venezuela is a hope! Enough of imperial aggression against the peoples of the world,” she said.
