Kampala, Uganda: Police in Kampala Metropolitan have launched a manhunt for Masaka City Woman MP NRM flag bearer Justin Nameere and her husband on accusations of assaulting and robbing presidential advisor Jennifer Nakangubi, popularly known as Full Figure.
KMP spokesperson, SP Patrick Onyango, confirmed on Sunday that Full Figure had filed a case alleging that Nameere and her husband attacked her along Kyadondo Road on Friday, taking her mobile phone and Shs500,000 in cash.
“Full Figure has since reported the case to the Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters, where her statement was recorded, and witnesses were identified. Detectives visited the crime scene and are currently working to track down Nameere and her husband,” Onyango stated.
Nameere and Full Figure, both presidential advisors, backed rival camps during the just-concluded NRM Central Region CEC elections, with the former, a daughter of former Defence Minister Vincent Ssempijja, supporting businessman Moses Karangwa, while Full Figure campaigned for Minister Haruna Kasolo, who eventually won the heated polls marred by claims of vote rigging.
The rivalry, which began on social media with heated exchanges between their supporters, spilled into physical confrontation on Friday.
Police intervened after viral videos from the scene showed Full Figure brutally attacked by two men as a woman’s voice accuses her of “abusing my husband.” One of the men is heard repeatedly demanding to know why she insulted him.
By press time, both Nameere and her husband had not responded to calls from this reporter seeking their side of the story.
