Kibuku, Uganda: Parents have been urged to prioritize equipping their children with life skills and discipline as the Nandere Students Muslim Association (NAMSA) ushered in new leaders during a colorful handover ceremony in eastern Uganda’s Kibuku District.

The day’s Guest of honor, Mr Mboizi Moses, popularly known as Mugaga Muto, and also the NRM flag bearer for LC III Chairperson in Nandere Sub-County, told parents that raising children without resilience and practical skills puts their future at risk. He particularly stressed the need for girls to pursue vocational courses rather than bowing to the pressures of early marriage after completing secondary education.

“Children who are not prepared for life’s challenges will struggle to protect their heritage and identity. Parents must take responsibility beyond just schooling,” Mr Mboizi warned.

Education and Morals Go Hand-in-Hand

Mr. Bazibu Alafat, who represented headteacher Mr. Luzige Peter, thanked students for organizing the event and stressed that discipline and good behavior remain the backbone of success. He urged students to respect school rules while prioritizing their Islamic faith.

He further called on parents to reinforce prayer and Islamic learning at home. “Daily prayers keep children focused and help them resist temptations,” he said.

Call for Better Worship Facilities

Patroness Madam Kataike Sarah pressed for improved facilities for Muslim students, noting that prayers were still being conducted under a mango tree. She appealed for Qurans, a permanent place of worship, and qualified instructors to guide students.

The newly elected Eastern Region Chairman, Mr Halid Hassan Pande, applauded the school for supporting Muslim learners and reminded students of the association’s mission to nurture both academic excellence and unity. “Your current circumstances are not your final destination. Believe in your potential and stay focused,” Halid said.
