Kampala, Uganda: The newly “elected” National Resistance Movement (NRM) Youth League Chairperson, Ms Kiconco Brenda, has rallied the ruling party’s youthful base to take charge of the 2026 presidential mobilization drive, declaring that the youth remain the “engine of the Movement.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, Kiconco, whose victory lies in the fate of the party’s tribunal, urged NRM youths across the country to embrace unity, discipline, and aggressive grassroots mobilization in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s re-election bid.
“This is our moment to lead from the front. No effort is too small when the mission is great,” Kiconco emphasized, underlining the role of young people in spreading the party’s achievements and vision.
Kiconco, who is also the incumbent Secretary for Female Affairs at the National Youth Council, called on youths in villages, towns, and districts to take responsibility for grassroots campaigns, noting that their voice and energy would be decisive in securing another term for Museveni and safeguarding the NRM’s political dominance.
“The time has come for us, the youth – the engine of our great Movement – to rise to the occasion once again. As we prepare for serious presidential mobilization, our energy, unity, and strategic action will be critical in securing a resounding victory for Jajja Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as our presidential candidate and the continued progress of our country,” Kiconco said.
“We move with discipline, with facts, with passion, and with purpose,” she stressed, adding that the Youth League’s leadership will coordinate closely with the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to ensure every effort translates into a wider electoral footprint.
Kiconco framed her call to action as a generational duty, insisting that the Movement’s legacy must be defended and advanced by the young cadres.
“Let us mobilize in every village, town, and district. Let us speak boldly about the achievements of the NRM and the vision we carry forward. Each of us has a role to play – no effort is too small when the mission is great.”
Her rallying cry comes at a time when the NRM is tightening its campaign machinery ahead of the 2026 general elections, with the youth vote projected to be the most decisive bloc
