Dokolo, Uganda: The Police in Dokolo District have arrested 22 suspects in a coordinated intelligence-led operation targeting criminal gangs that have long terrorized areas in Dokolo Town Council.
The arrested suspects include 19 men and 3 women allegedly involved in gang activities. The operation, carried out over the weekend, led to the recovery of marijuana, government stores, including a pair of military boots, and dangerous weapons such as a panga.
SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, Police Public Relations Officer for North Kyoga Region, confirmed that statements were recorded from 19 of the suspects, while 3 were released after screening. Case files for those detained are being compiled for submission to the Resident State Attorney for further legal action.
“We shall continue with these operations and call upon community members to support our efforts in creating a crime-free society,” SP Okema said. “Our commitment to community safety remains steadfast, with full support from all stakeholders.”
RDC Babra Akech praised the operation and vowed that similar actions will continue throughout the district to remove criminal elements and restore peace.
