Kampala, Uganda: In a race often dominated by the noise of money politics and flashy promises, GOLD Ikyiriza has emerged as a beacon of substance in the contest for the NRM flag in the Female Youth MP as she rallies young Ugandans behind her vision of “A Golden Era” that champions integrity, empowerment, and policy-driven solutions.
Anchoring her campaign on the pillars of honesty and service, GOLD, 24, has consistently emphasized that youth leadership should not be reduced to temporary handouts but must be grounded in policies that transform lives.
As a candidate of substance, the former UNSA Vice President and Makerere Guild leader has pledged to fight corruption at all levels of representation by modeling clean politics and amplifying youth voices on issues that matter, jobs, skills, and access to opportunities.
“We cannot keep selling our future for quick handouts. This generation deserves leadership that invests in their potential, not one that trades their votes,” she recently remarked on the campaign trail.
GOLD’s vision aligns closely with the NRM’s broader youth agenda of wealth creation, SACCO empowerment, and digital skilling. The visionary youth leader has promised to advocate for transparent financing of youth enterprises, ensure accountability in youth programs, and spearhead mentorship initiatives to nurture principled leaders of tomorrow.
Observers in the political cricle say her “Golden Era” brand symbolizes more than a slogan; it is a statement of defiance against corruption and a rallying point for young Ugandans eager to see politics built on service, not patronage.
By presenting herself as the credible option in a field often dominated by money politics, GOLD has injected a new moral standard into the race.
She, however, faces an uphill of a competition from fellow contenders for the NRM flag including Mercy Kanyesigye, Diana Ampaire Kampe, Suzan Katusiime, to mention, yet, many analysts argue that her message of substance, integrity, and anti-corruption could give her a decisive edge when the NRM youth elections resume.
The polls were suspended last week after chaotic scenes and allegations of voter bribery and register manipulation, with a new date yet to be announced by the National Chairman, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
