Police’s Marine Unit rescue seven in Lake Victoria boat incident

Entebbe, Uganda: The Uganda Police Marine Unit successfully rescued seven passengers from a boat travelling from Kalangala Island to Nakiwogo landing site on Friday evening.

According to a statement from the Police, the unit responded promptly to a distress call, ensuring that all passengers were brought to safety with no injuries reported during the incident.

“The Uganda Police Marine Unit in Entebbe has successfully responded to a distress call, rescuing seven passengers from a boat travelling from Kalangala Island to Nakiwogo landing site,” the statement released Friday read.

“Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident,” it added.

The Police have urged boat operators and passengers to adhere to safety protocols to prevent similar emergencies on Lake Victoria in the future.
