Pallisa, Uganda: Authorities in Pallisa district are currently investigating a harrowing case of aggravated defilement involving a 7-year-old girl. The incident was reported at the Pallisa Central Police Station on September 5, 2025, following a distressing series of events that have left the local community in utter shock.
The victim, identified as Lukaiya, was reportedly assaulted by 17-year-old Olupot Emmanuel, a resident of Rweta A cell in Kagwese ward. According to the victim’s mother, Ms Gimbo Halima, he daughter left their home that morning to purchase biscuits from a nearby shop for 200 shillings. However, her innocent errand took a traumatic turn.
As she made her way home, she encountered Olupot, who allegedly called her over to find another girl. During this interaction, he began to follow her, eventually grabbing her and dragging her to a nearby bathroom. There, he attempted to cover her mouth and proceeded to sexually assault her, despite her pleas for help.
The situation escalated when Lukaiya managed to raise an alarm, attracting the attention of a local resident named Kenneth, who responded swiftly. Kenneth discovered Olupot in the act of assaulting the young girl, leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest.
Following the incident, the mother reported the case to Pallisa CPS, prompting a comprehensive police investigation.
This incident follows a recent case from just a week prior, where a 12-year-old girl was also assaulted. The suspect in that case was arrested and is currently being detained at Pallisa CPS, with the file having been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney (RSA).
ASP Kyempasa Wilfred, the Bukedi North Public Relations Officer, confirmed that police have taken several measures in response to the current incident, and the case has been officially registered as aggravated defilement under reference number 25/5/9/2025.
He added that witness statements have been recorded to support the investigation, and a medical examination (PF3A) has been issued for the victim, revealing physical evidence of sexual abuse, including a torn hymen and fresh bruising.
“Swabs have been collected from the victim for further forensic analysis. The suspect has been examined as per protocol (PF24A), and his underpants have been recovered as evidence. A plain statement from the suspect has been recorded, and he has been cautioned accordingly,” he stated.
Police said it is actively investigating the case, with special emphasis on the gravity of the situation to ensure justice for the victim and her family. “Our investigations will continue, and we will ensure that all necessary evidence is gathered to support the prosecution of the perpetrator,” Kyempasa remarked.
Authorities have assured the public that more details will follow as the investigation unfolds. The recent surge in such cases has sparked urgent discussions about child safety and the need for protective measures in the community.
