LIST: Uganda Prisons Service reshuffles commanders in major shake-up

Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a major command reshuffle aimed at boosting professionalism and improving service delivery, Commissioner General Johnson Byabashaija has revealed. The changes, which include key appointments, transfers, and retirements, take immediate effect.

According to Service spokesperson Frank Baine, the strategic reorganisation is intended to optimize performance across the institution. Among the notable appointments, Ms. Aliyo Naatukunda, formerly a Commissioner of Prisons, has been named Acting Senior Commissioner of Prisons for Legal Advisory Services and Human Rights at Prisons Headquarters.

Other senior officer changes include Ms. Brenda Sana, now Head of the Department of Human Resource Planning and Development, and Mr. Robert Jolly Bamutura, an Assistant Commissioner of Prisons, appointed as Staff Officer in the Department of Estates and Engineering.

Several district and regional postings have also been affected. Mr. Ben Nyanzi Nicomedie Ahimbisibwe returns to the Division of Pensions as Officer in Charge, Mr. Arthur Mugaba becomes an Agricultural Engineer at Farms, Prisons Headquarters, and Mr. Ronald Mukwoli is appointed District Prisons Commander in Kalungu.

Officers in other districts, including Ms. Zaia Munobwa (Busaana Prisons), Ms. Lillian Asello (Central Region), and Ms. Eunice Rose Hasahya (Nakifuma Prisons), have also been repositioned.

All regional and district commanders have been directed to ensure smooth handovers and takeovers, guaranteeing continuity in operations across the Prisons Service.
