Kamuli, Uganda: The First Deputy Prime Minister and Kamuli District Woman MP, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has commended Becky’s Child Foundation for championing children’s rights and promoting community health, confirming that she will preside over the Pre-Independence Kidney Health Camp scheduled for October 7 in Kamuli district.
Speaking from her office at Kingdom House, Kampala, Kadaga praised the Foundation’s efforts, describing service delivery as a passion and calling that must be recognized.
“It is my passion and commendation that you are putting in for the service of the community. I will put aside any program to honor your complimentary service delivery initiative,” Kadaga said.
Kadaga also promised to connect the Foundation with Busoga’s renowned pharmacist, Dr. Matthias Magoola of Dei BioPharma, to strengthen local health initiatives. She added that she was encouraged by the inspiration drawn by young leaders such as Becky Alitwala Mutesi, CEO of Becky’s Child Foundation.
Becky, who doubles as the Foundation’s CEO, said the Kidney Health Camp is a special Independence Day gift to the community.
“Mama Kadaga mentored us in community service, and we shall always chip in to honor her legacy. This Independence, we are celebrating with a Kidney Health Camp and awareness on neglected diseases,” Becky said.
Diana Mugabi, the Foundation’s Manager, lauded Kadaga’s humility in accepting their invitation despite her busy national schedule. “Mama Kadaga is deeply attached to her people. Anything concerning them, she readily accepts. She is a great asset and treasure to the community, and we are humbled to be part of her mentorship,” Mugabi noted.
She explained that participants screened for kidney complications during the camp will receive their results and further medical treatment. The Uganda Kidney Association has also confirmed its participation.
Mugabi rallied the public to turn up in large numbers, urging them to adopt preventive health practices. “We at Becky’s stand by our mission of making lives of the less privileged more comfortable and worth living. Let us celebrate independence with health,” Mugabi emphasized.
