Kamuli, Uganda: The National Unity Platform (NUP) leadership in Kamuli District has suspended Eng. Mugoya Godfrey, a flag bearer aspirant for Kamuli Municipality MP seat, from all party activities with immediate effect pending investigations into alleged misconduct.
In a letter signed by the NUP district chairperson, Mr. Michael Kasiko, the suspension was effected following what he described as “numerous serious allegations and documented reports” against Eng. Mugoya, which he said were fundamentally at odds with the party’s values, principles, and disciplinary codes.
According to Mr. Kasiko, Eng. Mugoya faces accusations ranging from corruption, factionalism, and insubordination to sabotage of official party activities, excessive use of force and intimidation, as well as conduct deemed to undermine NUP’s principles.
“You are hereby suspended from all NUP-related activities in Kamuli District until further notice. You are not to represent yourself as a party agent, mobiliser, or attend any party meeting or function,” the suspension letter reads in part.
The district leadership further noted that the suspension will remain in effect indefinitely pending a review and final resolution by the executive committee, which will later set a date for Eng. Mugoya to present his defence.

Efforts to reach Eng. Mugoya for a response were unsuccessful as he did not answer repeated calls by press time.
The embattled aspirant, who previously contested as an independent for the Kamuli Municipality parliamentary seat, is now seeking the NUP flag but faces stiff competition from Mr. Silver Ssegonga.
