Police arrest woman behind fatal stabbing of popular Mbale entertainer Gavin MC

Mbale, Uganda: Police in Mbale City have arrested a woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of popular entertainment MC, Wanambwa Jonathan, better known by his stage name Gavin MC.

The incident in which Gavin MC lost his life occurred on the night of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the deceased’s residence in Muyembe Cell, Maluku Ward.

The suspect, identified as Namono Giladin, was apprehended by residents shortly after the incident and handed over to security forces.

Elgon Region Police spokesperson Rogers Taitika confirmed the arrest, revealing that preliminary investigations point to a domestic dispute as the likely cause of the fatal encounter.

According to police, a scuffle erupted around 9:20 pm when the suspect allegedly found Gavin MC in the company of another woman. In the heat of the altercation, the victim was stabbed and collapsed outside his home moments later.

He was rushed by bystanders to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Taitika said police responded swiftly, cordoning off the crime scene, recovering exhibits, and recording witness statements to establish the sequence of events leading to the entertainer’s death. “Investigations are ongoing, and we shall update the public as more information comes in,” he stated.

Gavin MC, known across Mbale’s nightlife and entertainment circles, was celebrated for his energetic stage presence and ability to connect with audiences at events across the region. His death has left fans and fellow entertainers in shock, with tributes pouring in across social media platforms.
