Kibuku, Uganda: A six-year-old boy was killed on Wednesday evening after being knocked by a speeding vehicle at Buseta trading centre along the Tirinyi–Pallisa Road.
The deceased, identified as Vincent Lyomoki, a resident of Buseta and son to Mr. Lyomoki Vincent of Kagumu Sub-County, was struck at around 7:00 pm while crossing the road.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle, which remains unidentified, was travelling at high speed from the Pallisa direction when it hit the child.
The boy was rushed to Kibuku Health Centre IV in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries later in the night.
ASP Kyempasa Wilfred, the Bukedi North Police PRO, told DailyExpress that Police Officer H/C Eriebu Moses, who responded to the scene, documented the accident with a sketch plan and filed reports PF 48 A and PF 48 B.
Police confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the driver responsible for the reckless driving.
