Ex-Deputy IGP, Gen Sabiiti Muzeeyi airlifted to Kampala after serious accident in Lwengo

Former Deputy IGP and Luwero Industries General Manager, Lt Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi (inset), was airlifted to Kampala on Saturday after a serious convoy accident along the Lwengo–Kampala highway.

The accident reportedly happened Saturday evening along the Lwengo–Kampala highway when Gen. Sabiiti’s convoy was struck by a Fuso lorry loaded with cows.

Lwengo, Uganda: Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Lt Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi, is battling for his life after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident that occurred on Friday while returning from Ssembabule District, where he attended the giveaway ceremony of President Museveni’s granddaughter, Nsasiirwe Keinembabazi Karugire.

The accident, according to preliminary reports, happened along the Lwengo–Kampala highway when Gen. Sabiiti’s convoy was struck by a Fuso lorry loaded with cows.

Emergency response teams swiftly evacuated him, and he was later airlifted to Kampala for advanced medical management.

Sources this publication spoke to described his condition as serious, though the army and police are yet to issue an official statement on his status. Details about the cause of the crash and the condition of other occupants in the convoy remain unclear.

Gen. Muzeeyi, who served as Deputy Inspector General of Police between 2018 and 2020, is currently the General Manager of Luwero Industries, the production arm of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces’ National Enterprises Corporation (NEC).

The accident has triggered concern within both the security and business establishments, where Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi plays a strategic role.
