Entebbe, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni Thursday unveiled “Muliro Eater”, Uganda’s first locally developed all-terrain firefighting vehicle, positioning it for international markets across Europe, Asia, and America.
The innovation, developed in collaboration with South African firm Marcé Industries, was showcased at State House Entebbe before ambassadors from the USA, Russia, the UK, and EU member states. The vehicle, fitted with rubber tracks and capable of maneuvering where traditional engines cannot, is designed to battle wildfires and support humanitarian operations.
“I was delighted to present our innovative firefighting vehicle, named the Muliro Eater, to the Ambassadors of the USA, Russia, the UK, and EU member states,” President Museveni said.
“Having frequently watched on TV as fires devastated towns and regions in these countries, I was inspired to combine our African firefighting tactics with military tank technology to create this fire-eating vehicle. I hope that they will embrace this proposal and become our clients. This initiative represents our commitment to philanthropy and the promotion of African innovations.”

The prototype, reviewed and verified by the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and the Ministry of Transport, has been described as a breakthrough blending African ingenuity with industrial expertise.
According to Marcé Industries’ official Jan Petrus Steyn, the vehicle demonstrates Uganda’s capacity to create solutions for global disaster response.
With its potential entry into global markets, the Muliro Eater marks a new chapter for Uganda in exporting homegrown innovations designed to meet pressing humanitarian needs.
