Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) suspended the morning talk show Omusunsuzi on Salt TV, co-hosted by Jennifer Nakangubi (commonly known as Full Figure) and veteran actor Charles James Ssenkubuge on Saturday following allegations of repeated violations of broadcasting standards, including the use of inappropriate language and unprofessional conduct.
In a public notice issued September 13, 2025, UCC said the decision followed “routine monitoring and numerous complaints” from viewers.
According to the regulator, the programme, which airs on weekdays between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, exposes children and the general public to harmful content.
“The Commission found that this program… contains abusive content, inappropriate language, and displays unprofessional conduct by the presenters,” UCC stated in the directive.
The Commission further expressed concern that such content was being broadcast during morning hours when children are likely to be watching, potentially exposing them to unsuitable material. “These broadcasts occur during morning hours when children are likely to be watching, potentially exposing them to unsuitable material.”
“The UCC remains committed to protecting the public from harmful or offensive content and ensuring that broadcasters operate in compliance with the law and professional standards,” the notice emphasized.
As a result, UCC has directed Salt TV to immediately suspend the program and submit full recordings of the show aired between August 1 and September 12, 2025, along with a written explanation addressing the complaints received.
Salt TV was given until Friday, September 19, 2025, to comply with these directives.
Public Reaction and Full Figure’s Response
The suspension has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with some viewers expressing support for Full Figure’s outspoken style, while others commend UCC for enforcing broadcasting standards.
In response to the suspension, Full Figure took to TikTok, asserting that she remains the content that viewers seek and that she will continue to engage her audience through online platforms. She also challenged UCC to apply the same scrutiny to other broadcasters who she claims exhibit similar behavior.
Salt TV has not yet issued an official response to the suspension by press time. However, the development has sparked debate among media watchers, with some defending the show as a platform for bold political commentary, while others accuse it of crossing the line with inflammatory language.
As the media landscape continues to evolve, this incident serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between freedom of expression and the need for regulatory oversight to maintain ethical standards in broadcasting.
