Naguru, Uganda: Police have increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects behind the gruesome murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga in Entebbe from UGX 50 million to UGX 60 million, as investigations intensify into the double homicide that has shocked residents.
Police Spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma, while addressing journalists on Monday at Naguru Headquarters, said the increase in the bounty is aimed at accelerating public cooperation in tracking down the killers who remain at large.
“The Uganda Police Force continues to search for those responsible for the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga in Entebbe. We initially offered a reward of 50 million shillings for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, whose photo and voice we have shared. This reward has now been increased to 60 million shillings,” ACP Kituuma stated.
The elderly couple, who had just returned from their stay in Germany, were found murdered in their home last month, with preliminary findings indicating the crime was premeditated. Their deaths sent shockwaves through the community, raising fresh concerns about the safety of senior citizens and the rising sophistication of violent crime in the area.
Relatedly on the same incident, ACP Kituuma also clarified media reports, particularly in NewVision of Friday, 12 September 2025, which suggested that Police had already identified the actual suspects.
“For clarification, we highlighted individuals whom our investigative sources suspect may be connected to the crime. Once conclusive evidence is established against any suspect(s), we will formally release their details to the public,” he said.
The Police have so far circulated photos and voice recordings of one key suspect, but urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that may jeopardize investigations.
