Masaka, Uganda: The State Minister for Microfinance and NRM Vice Chairperson for Central Region, Hajji Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, has called for mandatory patriotism training in Uganda’s education system saying this is key as it makes learners grow progressively with the country at heart.

The Minister and CEC member revealed this while officiating at the pass-out ceremony of 375 medical students at Masaka School of Comprehensive Nursing.

He congratulated the students on completing a 7-day patriotism course and proposed that patriotism education should be formally integrated into the national curriculum. He further recommended that a certificate in patriotism training be made a prerequisite for anyone seeking government deployment.

Responding to challenges raised by Deputy Principal Mr. Acheda Daniel about the institution’s inadequate infrastructure, the minister pledged to engage stakeholders to secure a lasting solution, noting that poor facilities had hindered student enrollment for years.

Kasolo urged the young patriots to embrace unity, reject sectarianism, and shun corruption, stressing that true patriotism means prioritizing the nation above self-interest. He specifically called on medical professionals to “prioritize the health of the people before money.”

He further tasked the graduates to champion the NRM’s core principles of Pan-Africanism, Democracy, and Socio-economic transformation as ambassadors of patriotism in their professional journeys.
