Kamuli, Uganda: Kamuli School of Nursing and Midwifery Friday marked its 10th graduation in style, sending a total of 121 newly trained health workers into service to strengthen Uganda’s healthcare system.
The graduates included 20 with Diplomas in Midwifery Extension, 3 with Diplomas in Nursing Extension, 93 with Certificates in Midwifery, and 4 with Certificates in Nursing.
Delivering a sermon on behalf of the Bishop of Busoga Catholic Diocese, Vicar General Monsignor Ben Wakabi, popularly known as Kyuma Kiyaka, reminded the graduates that the nursing and midwifery career is a divine calling.
“Your profession is a calling from God. You are called to serve the people, so go and serve them with care and humanity,” Fr. Wakabi said.

Sr Regina Atimo, Principal of Kamuli School of Nursing and Midwifery, urged the graduates to carry forward the institution’s values and commit themselves to professionalism and excellence.
“Go and serve the community by example. Dedicate yourselves to work and be ambassadors of holistic excellence,” she said.
The colorful event also doubled as the launch of the school’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, marking decades of producing health workers for Uganda.
