Kampala, Uganda: Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG), Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria, marked her 50th birthday in a golden jubilee celebration at her residence, joined by youth, family, and dignitaries, in what turned into both a personal milestone and a tribute to her fight against corruption.

The event drew youth representatives from various universities who credited Dr. Achan for her mentorship and guidance.

Natasha, one of the student leaders, said she and her peers had benefited from Dr. Achan’s advice on living and studying with integrity. “She is not just a public servant but a mentor to us all. We are here to show appreciation for her guidance,” Natasha said.

Among the guests was Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, who gifted Dr. Achan a Bible as a symbolic reminder of her mission to fight corruption with both professionalism and moral conviction.

The Inspector General of Government, Hon. Beti Kamya, praised her deputy’s unwavering dedication, while fellow Deputy IGG Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe described Dr. Achan as “a pillar in the institution.”

In his tribute, her husband, Mr. Okiria, lauded her ability to balance public service with family life. “She leaves her work title at the door and becomes a devoted wife and steady hand at home,” he said.

Dr. Achan’s golden jubilee celebration was hailed as not only a commemoration of her personal journey but also an affirmation of her enduring role in Uganda’s anti-corruption fight.
