Tycoon Sudhir leads Nepal Constitution Day commemoration in Kampala

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Honorary Consul of Nepal in Uganda, cuts a cake decorated with Nepal’s tricolor during the Constitution Day celebration at Crane Chambers in Kampala.

Kampala, Uganda: The Honorary Consul of Nepal in Uganda, Billionaire Businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, on Monday led a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony at Crane Chambers to mark Nepal’s Constitution Day.

The event, held three days after the official September 19 commemoration, brought together his staff to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nepal’s 2015 Constitution, which established the country as a federal democratic republic.

Dressed in a white outfit, Dr. Ruparelia sliced a cake decorated with Nepal’s tricolor and chocolate drizzles as his staff cheered in celebration. Plates of cake and napkins lined the wooden conference table, reflecting the festive mood.

The 2015 Constitution, enacted during Nepal’s post-earthquake recovery, is widely regarded as a cornerstone of inclusivity, guaranteeing representation for marginalized groups such as Dalits and Janajatis, symbolising a spirit of unity that mirrors Uganda’s own 1995 Constitution.

Speaking at the celebration, Dr. Ruparelia highlighted the significance of the day, saying it represents resilience and shared values. He also pointed to strengthening ties between Uganda and Nepal, recalling a recent scholarship initiative announced in partnership with Nepal’s embassy to benefit both Ugandan and Nepali youth.

The gathering blended cultures with sel roti and mandazi, symbolizing community bonds beyond borders.
