Mayuge, Uganda: Police in Mayuge District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 34-year-old man, identified as Isiko Nasifu, whose body was discovered inside a guest room at Namilembe Guest House in Matovu Village, Bukaboli Sub-County.
ASP Micheal Kasadha, the new Busoga East Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that the proprietor of the guest house has been arrested to assist in investigations.
Isiko, a resident of Kigulu Village, Kigandalo Sub-County in Mayuge, was last seen alive on Sunday afternoon when he entered the guest house with a yet-to-be-identified woman.
“Isiko was sighted at around 4 pm on Sunday while entering with a lady in the guest house. However, the lady later left at an unknown time. The owner of the place entered to check on them and found him naked and kneeling dead,” ASP Kasadha said.
The body was retrieved and taken to Mayuge Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Guest House Under Probe
The arrest of the proprietor followed questions surrounding the incident, with police faulting guest house operators for failing to register their clients.
“Whenever you have such places, it is responsible to know your clients. Before admitting customers in guest houses, hotels or lodges, you are required to take their particulars—names, residence, and contact—since they are key in case problems occur,” Kasadha stressed.
He accused some operators of prioritizing profits over lawful procedures. “Because they are only money-minded and don’t want to practice lawful measures, it is the reason why we stick to them so that they can learn,” he said.
Police have vowed to deepen their investigations into the matter as the hunt for the woman last seen with Isiko intensifies.
