Serere, Uganda: Serere Woman MP aspirant Esther Lucy Acom has congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni upon his full nomination as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate for the 2026 general election.
Acom, an independent candidate with NRM leanings, described Museveni’s September 23 nomination as a reaffirmation of his enduring leadership and the stability it has brought to Uganda.
“Your leadership has been instrumental in shaping Uganda’s future,” Acom said in her Tuesday message, citing achievements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
The former aspirant in the recently concluded NRM primaries pledged to rally support for the President’s vision, urging Ugandans to work together in pursuit of national progress. “Together, let’s build a brighter Uganda,” she added.
Acom’s message comes as Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986, embarks on yet another presidential bid under the NRM banner. His nomination, the first to be cleared by the Electoral Commission, has energized supporters across the country, with several party-leaning independents like Acom pledging solidarity.
By aligning herself with Museveni’s candidacy, Acom positioned her campaign within the broader NRM agenda while retaining an independent identity to appeal to diverse voices in Serere District. Her gesture also underscores the growing role of younger politicians in shaping Uganda’s electoral landscape.
