Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni, on Saturday presided over the launch of the Yoweri Music Album at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The event, organized by the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) under the leadership of Edrisah Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo, drew cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, artists, comedians, music promoters, and other key stakeholders in the creative industry.
Speaking at the launch, H.E. Museveni commended Kenzo and Minister of State for Mineral Development Phiona Nyamutoro for their efforts in uniting and organizing the industry, noting that while the government cannot do everything, it is committed to facilitating growth.
He said the album’s diversity, which features songs in indigenous languages from all regions of Uganda, reflects the country’s cultural wealth. “I am happy for the indigenous songs; the music is very good, I like it. This is a gold mine, and I shall support it,” Museveni said.
The President explained that the NRM government’s initial priorities after taking power were health and peace, which have now created the foundation for sectors like music to thrive. He assured artists that government will inject substantial funding into the creative industry.
“We shall support you, even if you want 20 or 30 billion, as long as it is a one-time investment,” he added.

On his part, UNMF President Eddy Kenzo thanked the President for honoring the invitation and described the album as a gesture of appreciation to him and the country. He credited Uganda’s peace and stability under Museveni for giving creatives a platform to shine.
“As a former street child with little formal education, I am grateful that my talent has flourished in Uganda. The support you gave UNMF has been put to good use,” Kenzo noted.
Kenzo revealed that the government funds enabled the federation to set up regional studios, establish common-user facilities, and strengthen their SACCO, ensuring equitable benefits for musicians nationwide.
The Yoweri album launch, marked by music, dance, and cultural showcases, signaled a renewed partnership between government and the creative sector.
