Entebbe, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday, September 28, 2025, met a team of Ugandan scientists led by Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero to review the country’s progress in building a science-led modern economy.
The high-level meeting focused on recent achievements in Uganda’s innovation ecosystem, including the production of diagnostic kits, standardization of natural medicines, advances in machine-building technologies, and the development of locally manufactured electric vehicles.
President Museveni commended the scientists for “finally waking up” to their critical role in national transformation and assured them of continued government support.
He urged the scientific community to focus on mechanizing and standardizing Uganda’s traditional knowledge to create wealth, rather than blaming colonial legacies for current challenges.

Dr. Musenero welcomed the President’s guidance, noting that the ministry and its partners were firmly on track in positioning science and innovation as the engine of national development.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining scientific research and scaling up innovation to drive long-term economic growth.
