Namutumba, Uganda: The territorial police in Namutumba have arrested the Chairperson of Kibaale Sub-County in Namutumba district for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old child.
Busoga East Police Spokesperson ASP Micheal Kasadha identified the suspect as Musaso Yunus, a resident of Namakoko central, Namakoko parish, who allegedly lured the minor to his house while she was on her way to the shop, where he forced her into the action.
“Preliminary investigations indicated that on the 05th/09/2025 at around 10:00 am, the victim had been sent by the mother to the shop, and before she reached, the suspect called her, lured her to his house, before engaging her into the sex act,” Kasadha said.
After the act, the suspect allegedly warned her not to tell anyone, and the child lived in fear until the following day, when she had serious pain in her private parts until she opened up to her mother about what transpired.
“She lived in fear until the following day, the 06th/09/2025, when she opened up to her mother after feeling discomfort in the private parts. This prompted the mother to report the matter to Kibaale police post,” Kasadha added.
Police have since kicked off investigations into the matter after the subsequent arrest of the suspect. Officers visited the scene of crime, and items of evidential value were recovered to support security in the ongoing inquiries.
ASP Kasadha said that both the suspect and victim were medically examined and that further inquiries were ongoing, and upon completion, the suspect will be arraigned in the courts of law to answer various charges, not limited to defilement.
“We condemn the shameless act on the minor by a leader who should have protected the child from such violence,” Kasadha made a stern warning, before asking the public to always report cases regarding violence against children and other people.
He said that police are committed to fighting cases and asked the community to always cooperate and support authorities in prosecuting such people, and warned the would-be offenders to refrain from criminal acts before the law can work upon them.
